Greg Walker reportedly will interview for hitting coach posisitons in San Diego and Atlanta.
Cold weather won't be an excuse for early-season slumps if Walker winds up in Georgia or California. Of course, if he goes to the Padres and the offense is poor, it probably won't be his fault, it'll just be more of the same.
Atlanta is an interesting destination, though, as if Walker goes there he'll be saddled with the task of getting Jason Heyward back on track after a disappointing sophomore year. Whether he -- or any other hitting coach -- can actually do anything about Heyward's downturn is up for debate, but if Heyward continues to struggle, Walker probably will be blamed for it, just as he drew criticism for the struggles of Gordon Beckham.

News from the Phillies front is that Double-A Reading coach Mark Parent will be joining Ventura in Chicago. Having seen him manage up close, it's a nice pick up.

Since the first time I saw you,I felt something inside,
I don't know if it's love at first sight,
I do know I really like you a lot.
