Noted Cowboys enthusiast Domonic Brown caught some heat from Eagles fans on Sunday after posting a picture of him and some friends rocking Dallas gear at the Linc. For whatever reason, he chose to respond to some hate-tweets and, as athletes are prone to doing, put his foot in his mouth.
"Philly loves you but don't tell Philly fans you like the cowboys cause no one likes a cowboys fan," one fan tweeted at Brown.
His response: "Philly doesn't love me. I get boo's almost everynight. No big deal use to it."
Brown didn't get booed much in 2013, when he broke out with 27 homers in fewer than 500 at-bats. His receptions in previous years were colder because he hadn't proven himself offensively, and his defense was and still is shaky. Still, it's not like Phillies fans ever routinely jeered Brown, so it's a bit surprising he'd write something like that.
Not a huge deal ... it's just an annoyed response by Brown, who received a lot of ridiculous tweets Sunday and Monday morning. But he had to know what he was getting himself into when he posted that picture, and you'd think he'd be better prepared to deal with the responses he got.
"Philly doesn't love me" isn't the kind of thing you'd like to hear from the 26-year-old who is charged with leading the next wave of Phillies baseball.
