The Phillies on Monday placed shortstop Jimmy Rollins on the disabled list with a strained right groin and activated third baseman Placido Polanco, who had been on the DL with a sports hernia.
Polanco is batting second in tonight's series opener against the Mets. Rollins left Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Washington Nationals in the third inning seemingly after straining his groin fielding a bouncing ball behind second base before pirouetting and throwing out Nationals catcher Jesus Flores at first base. He underwent an MRI Monday morning. In 121 games this season, Rollins has 58 RBIs and 14 home runs. His recent six-game hitting streak was snapped as a result of leaving Sunday's game. - CSNPhilly.com
