Swept out of Citizens Bank Park in the finale of their 10-game homestand, the Phillies take to the road for a three-city tour of the National League West beginning tonight with a meeting with Mat Latos (13-5, 2.33) and the league-leading Padres. First pitch is 10:05. Roy Oswalt (9-13, 3.22) counters in what should be an excellent night of pitching. Unfortunately, I can't make the same prediction about the Phillies' sputtering offense, which has scored two runs or fewer in seven of their last eight games. The Phils go with their regular line-up against the right-hander.

@Old Phan.......Werth is becoming historically bad with RISP.....for whatever reason Shayne is annoying me just as much as Werth these days with his putrid AB's!

Back to the umps... that is the difference between umps who know the situation and the importance of the games...
There's no way Torrealba, Headley or whoever else was whining should have been still in the game. BTW, I seem to remember Torrealba whining in the playoffs too am I right?
But, they knew the importance (playoff race) and the tight game, and weren't so quick to toss (even if the 3rd base ump jawed a bit). Its not an A+ effort. But Kudos for not unnecessarily tossing anyone and letting them play...
But... I hate this Padres team already... I look forward to hating them in the playoffs..

Nothing like a win to bring back the confidence. Nice to be back on top of the WC standing however slim the lead and Atlanta getting the wobbles.

UC needs to give Vic a day off. GIve Franc a start, he does seem to hit more when he gets playing time. I'm not sure we'll see the 'old' Utley until next year.
Only one win but a big one, not sure how two losses like this is a week would work on their psyche.
Rolllins has lost a step, but he's still the leader on this team.
