this post is a mess of metaphors.

I just had a vision of Brown's first AB. A high chopper to shortstop. Brown hustles down the line to try to beat the throw. As he does, he suddenly comes up lame with a pulled quadricep that puts him out of acction until September.

The post is far from a mess. It's awesome! Great stuff.

bap: "I just had a vision of Brown's first AB. A high chopper to shortstop. Brown hustles down the line to try to beat the throw. As he does, he suddenly comes up lame with a pulled quadricep that puts him out of acction until September."

And there's bap, further cementing his reputation!

Thanks BAP. I just vomited in my mouth and gargled with turpentine.

My God...IT'S BRILLIANT!

**** As he does, he suddenly comes up lame with a pulled quadricep that puts him out of acction until September.****

September of 2012...

b-a-p: He goes hitless until the bottom of the ninth when he crushes a mammoth HR to RF for a walk-off grand slam. Then Ryan Howard dogpiles him onto the 60 day DL.

Halladay on the mound, Dom Brown making his MLB debut, the Phillies riding high on a 6 game winning streak & facing a lousy team in the Arizona Diamondbacks ...

This game feels like a loss.

Hey, I'm a sportswriter with a 6 month old and a demanding job. Metaphors are my last resort when I've got 20 minutes on a train.

Incidently, Jason, nice prose. Jim Thompson had nothin' on you.

G-Town: I was thinking the same thing.

Nah most likely injury is a collision with Werth in RF.

"You go into the office and take a book or two from the shelves. You read a few lines, like your life depended on reading 'em right. But you know your life doesn't depend on anything that makes sense, and you wonder where in the hell you got the idea it did; and you begin to get sore."
— Jim Thompson

My bet is that the dirty blonde chic would be drinking some kind of shitty Chardonnay and not Dom.

Oh, I'd put money on this being a loss (in fact I may have....). Everything pointing their direction, if I know the Phils, you can pretty much count on a letdown tonight.

****My bet is that the dirty blonde chic would be drinking some kind of shitty Chardonnay and not Dom. ****

Nah, even that would be too classy...more likely it'd be a cheap Chablis.

Any scenario that doesn't include burning down an orphanage is too upbeat for bap...

That goofy fan group in RF seem to have gone by the wayside as tickets have gotten tough to come by but:

Brown's Crowns?

Boxed wine. Or Riunite.

I am SO blowing off a meeting right now, in favor of watching this on mlb.tv. I have issues.

MG, WHITE ZINFANDEL.

Scott- Or baking a poodle.

Don't forget, JW, the impending acquisition of potential co-ace Roy Oswalt. An unbelievable day, to be sure.

Even had that snuck through the infield, Dom would have gunned him out from shallow RF.

More likely "Red Cooking Wine."

From a grocery store.

Generic.

Leftover from a bad recipe.

Two years ago.

And it's been stored in the garage.

Chablis or White Zinfandel that is $4 glass yet is the kind of bottle you would find in a 2/$10 bin.

Amazed at how bars I worked at made killer margins on real shitty wine by the glass especially if professional women after work.

****Chablis or White Zinfandel that is $4 glass yet is the kind of bottle you would find in a 2/$10 bin.****

Which is ironic because good expensive Chablis's do exist...they're just very rare. Kinda like a good Chenin Blanc (another economy grape typically)

That goofy fan group in RF seem to have gone by the wayside as tickets have gotten tough to come by but: Brown's Crowns?

"Dom's Bombs" would be a better choice. It works no matter what kind of night he has.

****Amazed at how bars I worked at made killer margins on real shitty wine by the glass especially if professional women after work.****

Like when small family restaurants sell Yellow Tail (under $10 a bottle at the store) for $8 a glass typically.

What a catch!

Did you hear that little ovation Brown got when he caught that ball?

The crowd is excited.

That was, without a doubt, the best catch I've ever seen.

Give him the Gold Glove now!

Hah! Don't even try that in our house, Young. We got Dom Brown, baby.

b_a_p: L.A. said almost the exact same thing. Halladay has an ERA & WHIP of 0.000 w/ Brown behind him, BTW.

Who has a bigger impact on this game, Dom Brown, or the as-yet-undefeated-in-his-current-go-'round, super hitting instructor Greg Gross? Is this the apocalypse?

good to see everybody is somewhat happy again after the Cubs and Cards series

DOMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

With Brown in the line-up, the Phils are undefeated.

Based on that catch alone, Dom Brown is more deserving of a Gold Glove in '10 than Bobby Abreu was in '05.

G-town: why did we trade Abreu anyway? I can't remember.

Discuss in 500 posts or less.

The Phillies' first 5 hitters owe it to Domonic Brown to get him to the plate this inning. Anyone who makes an out should be immediately benched.

I'm going to go ahead and reiterate my stance that a no hitter does not count when you walk 8.

Matt Holliday with a two run shot off Johan Santana in the first.

Atlanta already leads Washington 1-0.

Raul's OPS+ for 2010: 100.

WOOHOO, league average!

I heard dom already hates dobbs

My all-time fave Philly athlete also wore #9

Pelle Eklund

I think that is where the similarities with Dom Brown end. :-)

bap: I'm fairly certain Brown is good enough to come to the plate with 5 outs in the first.

I just checked Lehigh Valley's box score to see how Domonic Brown is doing. For some reason he's not in the lineup.

jt, correction, Dom already hates David Herndon, just like everyone else on the team. Oh, and Jayson Werth, too. What with his sleeping with other guys' wives and whatnot.

Just a little high.

Only four batters came to the plate that inning? The amount of petty jealousy on this team is sickening. The sooner everyone on the Phillies accepts that Dom Brown is just plain more of a man than they are, the better.

Ryan just wanted to make sure Dom couldn't be the third out that inning.

Ya i did hear that Werth has slept with Doms future wife who he hasent even meet yet.

GTown, Cole Hamels has actually already accepted that, then proceeded to wax his legs. Just an FYI.

4-0 Cards over Johan, pitcher gets a 2-out, full count, bases loaded single. HAHA

I'll make a fearless prediction...

Phils and Indians will make a trade soon.

Fausto Carmona and Jason Donald to Philly

Brady Colvin, Matt Rizzotti and Michael Schwimer to Cleveland

Carmona has been the guy I have always liked the most, of the GETABLE pitchers we could possibly trade for. Keeps the ball in the park and throws a ton of groundballs. Is having a very good year on a lousy team.

Would not cost (in both prospects or money) near as much as a few other guys. He's under contract for the next few years. And he's under the age of 30. He would be a perfect #3 starter, to place between Hamels and Happ.

Preacher: In all fairness, Cole was gonna wax his legs regardless.

Wow. Next inning we get to see Brown in his first game as a Phil and Werth in his last game as a Phil...you know, if MLBTR has it's way.

I just want it on record that I was the first to declare Domonic Brown washed up. I'm declaring it right now.

denny - I don't mind that trade as long as it's Brady and not Brody Colvin.

In that case, let me be the first to bemoan RAJ for trading away Dom for 50 cents on the dollar to "restock the farm system" in 4 years.

bap: Too bad clout beat you to declaring Trevor May washed up.

Strasburg will not throw for 3 or 4 days and is very questionable to pitch in the series this weekend.

6-0 Cardinals as Johan is getting beat up. Still in the first. Last 4 runs came with 2 outs.

Willard RAJ is still here in 4 years!?!?!?! nooooooooooo

6-0 Cards. Bases loaded. Pujols at the plate.

The D-backs are all taking bad swings because they're afraid of hitting it to right field.

Damn "a"s and "o"s.

I think Colvin is high on a few team's list. He is probably the main chip that teams like Houston and Cleveland want out of the system.

per Scott Barzilla on twitter (Astros Blogger)

Astros agree in principal with Phillies on compensation for Oswalt according to multiple sources. It comes down to Oswalt and Happ

That SOB Heyward stole home just to show up Dom Brown on his big night.

Karma is a b---h, Heyward.

Reynolds strikes out? Who'da thunk that?

Everyone excited???

He's on-deck!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pujols hit a rocket to centerfield, but Beltran was playing deep.

St. Louis had the potential to tag Johan with the worst start of his career... a title currently held by Philly!

Enjoy your last "easy" hitter, Edwin.

Tonight, I don't care about Oswalt.

It's Domonic Brown night.

CJ: But ... but ... I thought Johan Santana was the best pitcher in the National League?

first base open. IBB to Dom?

They gotta walk Dom here, right?

Well, the Dominator will have a RISP for his first AB.

I sure hope my Internet doesn't die on me here.

Here's a true test. An AB w/RISP

Gotta love this crowd for that.

NEPP - Jinx.

Great moment with the intro.

BAP, thought you were going to miss tonight's game?

Welcome to Philly, Dom!!!!!!!!!!

Fvcking Awesome!!!!

Absolutely fvcking awesome!

Who this number 9?

Dom Brown: A better hitter w/ RISP than Jayson Werth.

WP: Just the last few innings.

Woo-hoo!

Don't mess with the Domonator.

I want to see him steal 3rd (and then home).

DOMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Before that happened, did the Phillies' dumb-ass announcer really say that Brown would just try to hit a ground ball to 2nd so he could get the runner over to 3rd?

Wow, the future is now.

bap: Maybe he shoulda bunted.

Get down Dom Brown!

BAP, yes, that would be the incomparable Wheels. He's even a wet blanket for Dom.

So, who's the #1 prospect in baseball now?

Willard Preacher: Mike Trout.
