DUNEDIN, Fla. - Cole Hamels gave up a lead-off home run to dead center to Jose Bautista,
but then settled down and pitched well. The radar gun readings on the
outfield scoreboard had his fastball consistently at 89 and he even
touched 90. He mixed in a few change-ups and curves, and looked to even
cut his fastball on a few occasions. The Blue Jays did their damage
against J.C. Ramirez and non roster invitees Ryan Vogelsong and Bill
White. The righty Ramirez, who has a very deliberate delivery, is
slow to the plate. His threw primarily fastballs that sat at 92,
mixing in a curve. His line wasn't as bad as it seems as he was a
victim of shoddy defense. Placido Polanco made a poor throwing
decision at third and catcher Brian Schneider missed a pop-up. Ryan Howard
and Jimmy Rollins also had errors in a sloppily played game.
Tyson Gillies
had a home run to right and Domonic Brown had two hits and threw a runner
out at the plate, demonstrating what scouts believe to be his strongest asset: his arm.

See, everyone in the infield makes errors in ST and Roy's Boy's are pitching with a purpose.

"Placido Polanco made a poor throwing decision at third..."
Why, oh why, JW did you have to print that? WHY?
I was hoping we'd leave that topic behind us, but now the Concerned Critics of Tertius are going to rear their ugly heads again and beat this topic incessantly long after it's dead.
Ugh.

awh: I think minor arguments persist because some posters prefer attacking the man and that prompts passionate responses designed not only to defend the argument, but also their impugned intelligence. Maybe if we could have reasoned discussions without resorting to juvenile name calling (on the internet?!?) it would be a better discussion and a better website all around.
