Multiple reports are confirming that free agent Pedro Feliz, who spent the last two seasons with the Phillies, will earn $4.5 million on a one-year deal to become the Astros new third baseman. Feliz would have earned $5 million had the Philllies entertained his 2010 option, but received a $500,000 buyout instead. So financially it evens out for Pete Happy. The 34-year-old posted a .694 OPS last season and hit just .167 in the postseason. If the financials are accurate, Ed Wade, once again, overpaid for an aging, marginal veteran, and I'm a little surprised by how much teams have been spending here in the early going.

Zolecki - 75% chance we land Halladay today. Happ and Brown.
Be right Todd! 1 Time!

I guess Ed Wade didn't watch the playoffs this year.

It was almost worth having to endure Ed Wade's stay in Philly, just so we can watch him trip over himself in Houston.
Good luck, Pedro.

CY - Did he offer the 75% on 610?

That's got to be hype...75% chance of brining in Halladay for Happ and Brown TODAY?
That would make my XMas season.

Unfortunately for Feliz, Rube sorta capped his 2010 salary by declining the option so Ed couldn't really offer to pay him more than $4.5 million.

My buddy was listening to it on 610 and that is what he told me. Did anyone here listen to it themselves? Would hate to have something lost in translation.
Zolecki is usually pretty solid, at least that is my impression of him.

All this Halladay talk is giving me acid reflux. It's like July all over again.

DPatrone: I still don't get it. why should I "blame" Amaro for not signing an awful contract?
AE~
You mis-undersand me. What I mean is if Amaro REALLY wanted Lyon and he got trumped by Wade the fact that RAJ didn't get his man is his fault. Not Wade's
Bed Beard~ Thanks my friend. I know Amaro won't say much 'cause he can't tip his hand. But in Halladay's case we all know he wants him. What exactly did Zo say?
Good for Pete Happy. I guess that means Tejada's avail. Return to Oakland??

Feliz winds up getting his $5M salary for 2010 after all. The $500k buyout plus the $4.5M from Wade.
Anyone think Tejada will sign for $4.5M?

Hopefully the surprisingly healthy MLB labor market portends good things for the broader economy. Maybe employers (including MLB teams) are concluding that they pushed the panic button a little too hard a year ago, and now that they think they've seen the worst, they're ready to start spending again...

It's not clear to me that your saying anything meaningful at all. Your point, boiled down, is: Rube refused to pay Lyon 3/15. Yes. And?
There's another point, it seems, lurking around, which you seem reluctant to make fully explicit, to wit: Rube has failed to upgrade the pen. To which I think any reasonable person would reply: it's December 10th.
