Martin Prado capped a 4-for-5 night with a walk-off single as the Braves got some breaks and finished on the winning side of a back-and-forth opener.
Beerleaguer: It's been a couple seasons since we've seen this phrase and now seems like the proper time to revisit it: "losses attributable to the bullpen." In the next few days, I'll go back and count, unless someone has the energy to assign the losses objectively. Because after tonight, the tally is certainly mounting. Their two most trustworthy relievers to end last season are suddenly among their most unreliable. Ryan Madson, whose throwing error advanced the eventual tying run into scoring position, was charged with a blown save in the eighth after John Mayberry and Pedro Feliz positioned them for the win with back-to-back homers. Chan Ho Park couldn't hang on in the 10th.
This wasn't an especially tough loss, but the problems with the pitching continue to run deep.
