Hats off to Cholly for finally seeing the light on this lineup. Dobbs has shown steady improvement on defense since he's been playing semi-regularly and he's 16 for 33 (.485) in his last 10 starts with 3 HR and 9 RBI.

The few remaining feeble arguments of the Feliz lovers are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. The idiot wind.

From the last thread . . .

KoolEarl: I believe the Giants extended Sabean's contract before this season. Sabean has done a good deal wrong as Giants GM but, if they didn't fire him after last year, they're not going to fire him after a year in which they made a full-scale commitment to youth and actually somewhat out-performed the very meager expectations.

clout- I'm with you on this one. Dobbs has shown considerable improvement in his fielding as he has played more often, and his offense is outstanding against righties. I also really like how Charlie has committed to splitting the lefties, it makes them a harder out, and with Utley's decreased power currently, it makes a whole lot of sense to have hitting second.

Props for the Faulkner and Dylan references

I much prefer the concussed double-play machine version of Ryan Church that is killing the Mets than the one who was knocking the Phils earlier this year

Mutts BP gave up another run - ATL down 4-3

clout - Does this mean I don't have to keep drinking the Flavoraid© ?

Josgay Reyes 0-5 nice

lets go fightins!

nice leadoff base knock, james

effin chicken

PtB has to hurt them here.

Tie game in ATL.

What a weak effort after the Rollins lead off hit.

Burrell needs some pine.

kotchman "mistake" half-swing single ties up the game 4-4.

4-4 in Atlanta.

5-4 braves

francoeur drives in a run - 5-4 Braves....

frenchy with the trip!

Francouer triples, 5-4 Braves

Mets bullpen is predictable, 4-5 now.

love the mets broadcasters - MLB.tv forgot to blackout the screen during the call to the bullpen after Frenchy's triple, and the Mets announcer (couldn't tell which one) says, "I told you they were going to score." Then they discuss who's coming up to bat for the Braves, truly fearing Chipper would be available to pinch-hit...

You know, if the Mutts bullpen didn't suck, they wouldn't be losing this game right now.

Bob: That's great. Hope some tech savvy baseball fan got an audio rip of that.

Just curious, clout,

Is there any particular reason that when you stated the Dobbs starting over Feliz would be the difference between a win and a loss, and I asked you numerous times what the Phils' record is when Dobbs starts vs. when Feliz starts, you ducked the question?

Oh yeah, and when you posted Dobbs' stats when he starts, is there any particular reason that you only posted his stats in his last 10 starts?

Jamie Moyer, lol.

Ruiz continues to give quality AB's. Get Moyer to bat here is good.

good ab cooch. turn that lineup over

philipper: He probably ducked the question because it's irrelevant, since such a stat doesn't account for who pitches on either side -- typically an important aspect of a baseball game, and crucial to its outcome.

7-4 braves

Meltdown in Atlanta. Two more.

7-4 ATL!

I asked clout the comparative records when they start against RHP, which is the only criteria that clout uses in his evaluation of whether Dobbs should start.

Clout stated that starting Dobbs vs. Feliz would be the difference between a loss and a win. I said that I think he's over-evaluating the value of Dobbs starting, particularly because he ignores any of the drawbacks of starting Dobbs, which mitigates the advantages.

Not a Feliz lover. Never said that Dobbs shouldn't start, at least sometimes, against RHP. Only said that I'm confused why clout has such a hard-on for Dobbs and such a vendetta against Feliz.

Aaron Heilmann sending in two inherited runners. Lidge has competition for that MVP/CY award.

as ever, phils mvp heilman. i am half drunk

Somehow the "nothing to play for" fill-in Cubs are winning today.

Thanks, Alf.

looks like amezega missed a spot with the face paint

koolearl - You're not drunk, you're drinkin'

way to double the play dobber!

flipper - you are becoming a one-dimensional poster.

redbeard - that's funny.

I'm just joking, flipper.

Sophist - We could save his posts for the late innings against the other team's LOOGY.

yippee.

Delgado just del-got-it. 2 runs....7-6 ATL...one out. c'mon gonzalez.

UTZ!

Looks like the Mets got a couple back.

UTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Utley. a HR? I didn't know he could do that.

Chase! Finally!

Utley actively helping the team!

2 questions: if we won the East, who would we face, and should we be rooting for the Brewers to overtake the Mets - or shouldn't we be scared of Sabathia and Sheets getting into the playoffs?

Tray - LAD; no; yes.

swaying drunk sailor Gonzalez finally shuts down the Mets while throwing 30 pitches...nice for them, nice for us.

Game over in Atlanta, Mike Gonzalez holds on and the Braves beat the Mets 7-6.

Too little too late for the Muts! Let's go Phils!

Division leaders for another day.

It's over in ATL. In a good way.

I agree with Andy.

Mets lose.

I get seasick watching Gonzalez pitch for Atlanta.

Mets 1-2 0 for 10. Ugh. I mean, I mean Yay!

Mets 1-2 0 for 10. Ugh. I mean, I mean Yay!

Jebus, Jamie, did ya have to do that? It's that "when we score we have to give the lead back thing." Again.

andy- the tv crew must be drinking as they showed 1 out when there was 0 & credit werth with the jack... anyome notices that burrell has been flying to rf a lot. i guess his perfomance anxiety is getting a bit better

flipper: Give it up. Dobbs should start over Feliz vs. RHP, it's obvious to anyone who knows even a tiny bit about baseball. I needn't run through all the stats again. You're starting to embarrass yourself.

So Mets go 4-6 in their last 10 games against teams that have 'nothing to play for'. Why are the Cubs going to be easier to beat again?

KoolEarl: They made 3 mistakes on the scoreboard last half inning: had wrong # of outs, had wrong count and had wrong guy (Werth) up when Uts waas hitting. Must've been an intern at the controls.

Oh, how I love MetsBlog:

So the divisional hopes are finished.

They’re fighting for the right to lose in 3 to the Cubs.

IF they manage to do even that

DEAR. JERRY MANUEL

NEVER USE AARON HEILMAN IN A BASEBALL GAME EVER AGAIN!!!!

Enjoy first place, probably for the rest of the year. I gotta get back to my less stressful other life for a little while. The NL should just forge ahead with 3 playoff teams this year and give the Cubs a bye

Tight zone for Jamie.

Funny how there's been no cesspool overflow today. And the Mutts fans call us frontrunners.

EF - Why are the Cubs going to be easier to beat again?

Random Mets Troll - because Mets rool baby!!

EF - But...

Priceless.

That Volstad double probably knocked an inning off Moyer's day.

loved seeing moyer turn it on there.

See. That's what I forgot in my faux dialogue: the Caps Lock key. (I'd never make a good Mets fan.)

chooch

chooch turns over the lineup again!

Whens the last time he did that twice in as game?

I see that viewing Metsblog has, again, become one of the favorite spectator sports for Phillies' fans.

we’d be better off putting a tee on homeplate than using some of these relievers

Time to add on Jimmy.

nice slow poke running there moyer to get in the way

one man gathers what another man spills

why is he not ejected for hitting uts?>

Your 2008 Florida Marlins!

Thank goodness for their fan(s) that they score runs in bunches.

dag jays 1st pitch go? ah well scratched a 2 out run

CSN has been having scoreboard problems all season. Really weird.

Beerleaguer, Beerleaguer ... wherefore art thou, Beerleaguer?

G-Town Dave: methinks they're sneaking over to an Eagles blog.

?

It's only Week 3 in the NFL, & the Phils are fighting for a division title ... if so, that's kinda sad. :-(

what are the prefered eagles blogs anyway?

It's a lot quieter here when the Mets bullpen pitches down to their reputation.
