Help this poor college student avoid starvation as he prioritizes baseball before sustenance.
Hi. I'm a frequent reader of your Beerleaguer blog and had a quick question for you. I'm a college student driving down to Florida to watch some Phillies games for spring break. Do you have any suggestions for very inexpensive places to eat around Clearwater? My current budget has me camping at a state park for 4 dollars a night. I'm trying to avoid spending too much on food. Any ideas you could add would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

If you can swing it and haven't yet left, buy a cheap gas camp stove and cook your own. Aside from the initial layout, pasta and ramen are both dirt cheap, as well as the pictured baked beans, beans of any sort, etc. You can eat like a king for three dollars a day. If you can't afford one, maybe you could befriend people camping around you and cook together or borrow their stove. Good luck!

There is a Dollar Tree store in strip mall adjacent to Bright House Network field. Plenty of cheap eats there.

The original Hooters is just around the corner. Probably not cheap, but I thought I would throw it out there.

In case you don't get the headline reference, "Scratchin' and Surviving" is a line in the television theme song to the 70s sitcom "Good Times."

"Hangin' in a Chow Line" is the most often misquoted line from the Good Times theme song. Hey, we were already on the topic.

sounds like you're a Dave Chappelle fan.
I can vouch for that Hooters... but probably not cheap enough for you.
or at least "inexpensive" enough.
