Tom Goodman summarized the post-Ed Wade era this afternoon on Swing and a Miss:
"You have to hand it to Dave Montgomery and the rest of the Phils’ ownership. First, they announce Charlie Manuel and his entire staff will be returning for 2006. Then, about a week later, they fire the GM. And finally, they announce the incoming GM will have the ultimate decision on who manages the team.
Not an auspicious beginning to the 'new era.' "
Beerleaguer: What we're seeing proves that the Phillies' problems extend far beyond the general manager. Hearing Phillies President David Montgomery justify his decision on WIP's morning show yesterday told me this team is operating without a plan and was unprepared for this firing. With Monty in charge, I am not optimistic that the right choice will be made regarding the GM position.

Doesn't this put some stock that burger king's sources within the org saying that 1/3 of season ticket holders were not renewing?
Either way, the problem is NOT just Wade, it's at the top.

HA! That Dude called him "burger king"!
As far as the whole Phillies current situation: I'm pretty much expecting them to do the worst possible thing, I don't know what that is, but I'm sure they will figure it out.
I think being a Philly sports fan has turned me into a misanthrope.
