(From the AP) Phillies outfielders Pat Burrell and Kenny Lofton had surgery last week and are expected to be ready for spring training.
Burrell had surgery Saturday to remove a bone spur, the team said Monday. Lofton underwent an operation in Los Angeles Friday to remove tissue from his left knee.
Burrell and Lofton join catcher Mike Lieberthal as Phillies who have had surgery in the last week.
Beerleaguer: Get it done, get it over with, and come back healthy for next season. That's how you do it. All three are expected back at full strength by the time pitchers and catchers report, though doubts continue to swirl on whether Lofton will be back next season.

I just heard that on the radio as well, I had no idea that Burrell was even having problems.

there were a few stories throughout the year that burrell has been playing with pain in his wrists for the past two years. i think one of his quotes was "its something i'll always have to deal with i guess." not good for a power hitter.

loften, by the way, isn't coming back. the brass probably feels at 38/39 he's due for a drop off.
