Don’t let the do-gooder Cardinals fans take over! Be sure to vote for Pat Burrell and Bobby Abreu to represent the National League in the All-Star Game, July 12 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
According to the AP, the Phillies duo trail the front-runners by a wide margin. New York's Carlos Beltran (527,433), Jim Edmonds of St. Louis (402,419) and Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. (261,554) are the leading vote-getters for the NL outfield.
Beerleaguer endorses NL East representatives Burrell, Abreu and Miguel Cabrera of the Marlins, who are running 10th, sixth and fifth respectively. Cabrera edged Cliff Floyd by a slim margin on my ballot. After Floyd, I’d vote Milton Bradley of the Dodgers, Brian Giles of the Padres, then Edmonds, with consideration also going to Brady Clark of Milwaukee, Adam Dunn of the Reds, Brad Wilkerson of Washington and Bo Bice of Alabama.
Beltran and Junior received no consideration.
Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen of the Cardinals are the leading vote-getters for the National League.
The biggest joke thus far is Larry Walker - the Scott Savol of the outfield contestants - running fourth in the voting, with Giles, Wilkerson and Clark failing to crack the top 15.

I think the biggest joke is Garciaparra leading NL shortstops in voting

The bigger joke is MLB allowing multiple voting on its web site. Stuff out ballot box, please.

I voted for Bobby last night, though I have to admit, I left Pat off my ballot. If Abreu doesn't make it in on the first ballot this year, the whole All-Star game thing should just go away.
